All roads lead to Rome
has always been the houses - said my old Latin professor from the melt. Fortunately, this has ultimately proved unfounded, when one must also note that I now at least the second time there was.
Kathy's parents have hired a few miles north of Lake Bracciano a house and invited the whole family for a holiday, including birthday parties. We formed the vanguard, and rode an already last Monday by Sky Europe at the airport in Rome. After the last rather dubious reporting on Sky I would have been expected that we would start walking, but everything has finally worked out an acceptable delay of one hour.
The next day took us right back to Rome, more or less directly to the processing of my youth trauma. I can still remember all too well when we were chased in the fifth grade all over the dusty stones of Rome, under the guise of an educational mission, the retention of water bottles ("I drink your nothing, otherwise you have to constantly to the toilet!"), And the prospect of the possibility of interest sent fake somehow a good, or simply reap only positive note in Latin.
At least, we have our blade hochgescheucht Latin teacher with specific intent to kill all the extra fast hill. Unfortunately it has turned out to be more robust than expected - it is amazing how far the will but carry a can. I would have been expected that it already does at its Palatine last gasp before they of a rickety, converted melon car toward the hospital or at best equal to the cemetery being wheeled.
precisely these hills, however, should this time be my own undoing. Kathy is at least indicated heat-resistant than I am. After a three-quarters of an hour to stand in the blazing sun to gain entry into the Roman Forum, I was already so in the end that I have almost no longer fit was. Of course I have my baby repeatedly offered to make me easy in the shade while it is pending on, but if I do that I've afterwards nothing to write. There will thus be a primary goal in the forum was to find a water source, which may not correspond directly Kathys streamline cultural plan, but as a life-sustaining measures, was absolutely necessary.
This time I got from posting any more hilly, but it is certain that it is to visit with my sweet much more interesting. I could only remember the Palatine and the Circus Maximus after the forum. But that on the mountain, the palace (or whatever) of Augustus I was completely replaced. This in itself is a very notable Performance because of this palace is about half as large as the entire hill, and earlier still had to multi-storey. Sure, because no one lives like in waist-high wall remains - not even the ancient Romans.
some point in between, we have broken down in the shade short for about twenty minutes - the heat had taken its toll. Is not a shame, because a friendly tour guide was also upset that day almost - and is this must be well used. Afterwards went through's Colosseum, and then across Rome to the English steps and Trevi fountain back to the station. After a rest day we were again on Thursday morning visit to Rome for us to see the Museum of Modern Art. Kathy has clever thing to us, as always, at admission as an art history student sold. The success of the action justified primarily on my serious art history student typical appearance, which through a suitable "University of Rome" cap was completed, and the fact, contrary to my pushing-immanent forced to be honest just to keep my mouth shut and no air to . pardoned Thus, of any discussion, and we were free to the museum. Who can see no more stones, which is the really interesting issue to heart. In particular, the Bronze sculptures in the entrance hall are worth seeing. Makes a bow to the cafeteria - and then take you all the money again, you have saved the cheating at the entrance.
The other days, beach holiday, interrupted by short dietary supplements tours of the brand "ice cream in Anguilara", with the final highlight of the 60 Kathy's mother's birthday party on Saturday. We were in a highly recommended small restaurant near Trevignano whose name I have forgotten a consistent way. Then we visited the traditional and thus ultimately cheesy Italian-Marie procession along with the most brilliant fireworks that I have ever seen.
Sunday carried us Sky Europe reliably with only a quarter of an hour late in the direction of home, but I had imagined every conceivable disaster scenarios in detail Well, as planned. to be back, even if the holiday is already over. But the next one is so determined. Until then, however, all roads lead home.
